Treatment for Anxiety and Chronic Overthinking

Sometimes, worry and anxiety can help us solve problems or prepare for life pressures.

Other times, this kind of thinking can be problematic, life-disrupting, or distressing, especially if it doesn’t lead to problem-solving.

Ruminating, chronic overthinking, and anxiety disorders often share a theme: Discomfort with uncertainty.

Anxiety and Overthinking can show up with:

Social anxiety (persistent worries about rejection or social ridicule).

Health anxiety (persistent, excessive fear about developing a serious illness, despite evidence to the contrary).

Agoraphobia (fear and/or panic related to being away from home/in public, where escape from embarrassing or panic-inducing situations is difficult).

Other Phobias (such as: fear of blood, vomit/throwing up, injections, or giving birth).

Physical symptoms like racing heart, shortness of breath, shaking, nausea, or dizziness.

Life-disrupting, distressing worrying and panic can be a sign of a clinical mental health issue. Anxiety disorders are treatable.
