Treatment for OCD

I offer clinical assessment and treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Many people who see me for OCD treatment have been experiencing symptoms for a long time, but did not seek support sooner because:

  • They were unaware that what they were experiencing was OCD or

  • They felt shame about their OCD-related thoughts.

OCD is still underrecognized in the healthcare system (iocdf.org), but it is a clinical, mental health condition that is treatable.

Common OCD Symptoms:

  • Intrusive, repetitive, and unwanted thoughts that cause significant distress (obsessions)

  • An urge to do something (behavioural or mental) to neutralize the distress caused by obsessions (compulsions)

  • Obsessions can look like: Intrusive thoughts related to getting sick, hurting yourself or others (intentionally or through negligence), dying, going “crazy”, or fear about being a “bad person”

  • Compulsions can look like: Cleaning, excessive checking and reassurance-seeking, mental replaying and problem solving, ordering, or other types of repetitive or excessive rituals

The list above is not exhaustive. OCD looks different depending on the individual and is best assessed by a mental health professional.

You don’t have to suffer alone; OCD is treatable.
